Doggon This War

Doggon this War

Written by John C. David

Verse

Too many people are dying in the war zone

The rivers flowing crimson, can’t you hear them wail and groan

I aint gonna stick around to save them from this rain of terror

Cos it costs me a lot of pain, and I’m going round the bend again

Bridge

Cos the war has just broken out

and I/ve gotta be on the run

Or its just too good to miss the fun

Aint no use in sitting down in a bar, or nursing your car

If you wanna save the war, grab yourselves your guns and make yourselves a star

Refrain

This war is costing a lot of lives

Bodies lying scattered in pairs and fives

Forever in pools of blood, oh God I can’t stand it now more

Chorus

Oh no no doggon this war it’s gone mighty far, mighty far, mighty far

All I’m asking for, asking for a lot of peace and rest and a lot of quiet

You know it aint in me to stand this devilish sight, oh God oh no

My bones seem run out of joints, they’ve run out of joints. run out of joints, I’m all in a rotten mess

Her body’s shaking like, shaking like, a mighty riot in a tattered dress

Oh no no doggon this war, it’s gone mighty far, mighty far, mighty far

Oh no no doggon this war, it’s gone mighty far, mighty far, mighty far

Verse (2)

I’ve got marching orders to grab me some enemy guys

I’ve gotta shootem down to break their stinkin’ ties

Then I’m supposed to sit back and keep on keep on smiling

I guess it takes more than pleasure to hear them wailing

And I’m speeding around the bend I’m going sailing

Refrain (2)

Can we all live in harmony, can we strike the peace accord

Instead of swapping body bags, let’s live in harmony and peace

Need transparency and more clarity, let’s eliminate world poverty

Let’s bury the hatchet on disparity, embrace a world of equality

Refrain (3)

If you wanna stop the war, love your neighbor as yourself, and live in peace and harmony

Let’s stop the wars against our neighbors, wars within our cities

Wars against children, women and the most vulnerable

If we don’t embrace diversity, and treat everyone alike, we will self-destruct

If we don’t embrace peace and harmony, and stop all warring ambitions, we will self-destruct

Let’s not self-destruct, come on people don’t self-destruct, are we crazy to self-destruct, no no no!

Bridge (2)

Gotta stop these wars from breaking out, ‘cos we should never be on the run

Wars are not meant to be some kind of fun

Aint no use in sitting down in a bar, or nursing your car

If you wanna stop the war, love your neighbor as self and live in peace and harmony

Chorus

Oh no no doggon these wars, they’ve gone mighty far, mighty far, mighty far

All I’m asking for, asking for a lot of peace and rest and a lot of quiet

You know it aint in me to stand this devilish sight, oh God oh no

My bones seem run out of joints, they’ve run out of joints. run out of joints, I’m all in a rotten mess

Her body’s shaking like, shaking like, a mighty riot in a tattered dress

Oh no no doggon this war, it’s gone mighty far, mighty far, mighty far

Oh no no doggon this war, it’s gone mighty far, mighty far, mighty far
