The Tragic Truth

The Tragic Truth

Written by John C. David

Verse

There’s a big generation gap between the present and the past

Heated words like thorns in the flesh, drive dejected folks to silent despair

Pining in their secluded pen, losing their fight to get out of their beds

Bridge

The kind of world we grew to expect, is drowned in a culture of corruption & greed

The helpless, vulnerable jobless grow, sadly face an economic meltdown

Verse (2)

With no one to take their cause to the forefront, every promise of fix is a bitter sweet stunt

Their hopes in the unity of despairing voices, rekindles the flame of founding fathers dreams

All we want is some stability, with freedom & liberty & justice for all

Chorus

Try try try, we gotta keep on trying

Hope, faith & brotherly love, ought to sustain our todays & tomorrows

Oh what a Tragic Truth, running away from the fix leaves bigger hole in the ground

Try try try, oh what a Tragic Truth

Refrain

All we want is some stability, with freedom & liberty & justice for all

United we must heed to the call, ‘cos divided we will surely fall

Lets tear down the bridges that separate & hinder our progress

So our future generations can live in dignity & promise of better tomorrows

Bridge (2)

Problems unsolved and erupting chaos, exposed to the heaven’s eyes

Policies in shambles, dire spells and innocent gambles

Guilty roaming earn unlimited bread, Millions more to be fed

Donned in sack clothes and ashes, Singe dirges for the dead

Hurrying & scurrying to dig into the dumpsters

Lack of all necessities, yet lauding & cheering

The callous and the corrupt

Pains of young expectant mothers, leading to joy unaware of the future trend

Nails digging stones out of the ground, bodies glistening with sweat

Planting seeds to earn their pound

Verse (3)

Every day’s promise it’s gonna be alright, how can it be when we’re losing our rights

People struggling to stay afloat, in the face of adversities they got nowhere to go

When are we going to rise up as a nation, with courage & honor & resilience

Bridge (3)

The American dream is fading on main street, the egregious flaunt parachutes on wall street

Money, wealth & power are the creeds they live by, while their savings in tax havens expose their allegiance

Chorus

Try try try, we gotta keep on trying

Hope, faith & brotherly love, ought to sustain our todays & tomorrows

Oh what a Tragic Truth, fighting to change the way things are always getting done

Try try try, oh what a Tragic Truth

Chorus

Try try try, oh what a Tragic Truth

Aint no use in lying, we just gotta keep on trying

Refrain

All we want is some stability, with freedom & liberty & justice for all

United we must heed to the call, ‘cos divided we will surely fall

Let’s tear down the bridges that separate & hinder our progress

So our future generations can live in dignity & promise of better tomorrows

We can turn the world around (2)

Must turn it around (3)
