Broken Mist

Broken Mist

Written by John C. David

Verse (1)

Walked out in the open

Caught the morning mist

Crawling into the trees

Raid sirens howling through the dark

Had deprived the people of their rights

Grit in my tired veins

And broken glass in my brain

Refrain

Tried to drone out a song

Thought it might cheer my drooping stage

Fists clenched in helpless fits of rage

Wedding Bless keep a chiming

Keep up the appointment

People flock their loved ones

Mourn the dead with broken hearts

Tears like showers spray, wreaths on soft earthly bed

Bridge

Cursed the fading mist

Wreaking my indignation

With fists clenched in rage

For unleashing the nights horror

Felt a heavy throbbing

My feet kept me a dragging

Verse (2)

Citadel crushed to the sand

People strewn on the ground

Snapped out my nightmare

Crux of the problems hang in the air

Refrain

Grit in my tired veins

And broken glass in my brain

Tried to drone out a song

Thought it might cheer my drooping stage

Fists clenched in helpless fits of rage

Bridge (2)

Blamed the broken mist

For slipping through my fingers

With fists clenched in rage

For unleashing the nights horror

Felt a heavy throbbing

My feet kept me a dragging

Refrain

Tried to drone out a song

Thought it might cheer my drooping stage

Fists clenched in helpless fits of rage

Bridge (3)

Begged the broken mist

To draw a curtain over the misery

And I’ll be fading out of sight
